Find a person in a long video — without watching all of it
Scrubbing through four hours of footage to find one face is nobody’s idea of a good evening. KinCut finds every appearance of the people you choose and cuts those moments out for you.
Start with a videoHow finding someone in a video works
KinCut uses face recognition to detect every face in your video, then groups the appearances of the same person together. You don’t upload a reference photo: you simply choose people from the faces KinCut found.
- Upload an MP4, MOV or WebM file up to 15 GB, or paste a YouTube link to a video you own or have permission to use.
- Confirm your email with a one-time code — there’s no password. Your upload keeps going while you do.
- KinCut scans the video on its own GPU and groups every face it finds. We email you when it’s done.
- Name the people you recognise and pick who belongs in the reel. KinCut gathers every moment they appear.
- Watch a free preview of the highlight reel and short clips. Unlock full quality when you’re happy.
What you get back
- Every moment each chosen person appears, with a thumbnail and timestamp
- A highlight reel of just those people, ready to watch in your browser
- Short clips you can download one by one or together
- An email as soon as your video has been scanned
Videos it works best with
KinCut is built for personal footage where people are the point: weddings, school plays, family holidays, birthdays, sports days and digitised home movies. Faces need to be reasonably visible — very distant, dark or blurry shots are harder for any face recognition to catch.
Private by design
Your video is processed on KinCut’s own GPU, never shared and never used to train models. Face data stays inside your account and is deleted with your video 30 days after processing.
Questions
Can I search a YouTube video for a person?
Yes. Paste a link to a YouTube video you own or have permission to use, and KinCut fetches it and scans it like an uploaded file.
Do I need a photo of the person?
No. KinCut shows you the faces it found in the video; you choose the ones you want.
How long does it take?
Videos take turns on our GPU. Long videos take longer, and you’ll see your place in the queue. You don’t need to keep the page open after your upload finishes — we email you.
Is it free?
Scanning, choosing people and watching the preview are free. Full-quality downloads cost $4.99 per video, one time.
